What ADI is not
- An insurer.
- A loss adjuster, the person who assesses a claim for an insurer.
- A loss assessor, a person you pay to manage a claim on your behalf.
- A claims management company or a legal adviser.
Under ADI's terms the customer pays ADI on the day of the work. You can then claim the cost back from your insurer if your policy allows it.
Where a page on this site concerns insurance, it sets out the question to ask and who to ask. The answer must come from that party.
What ADI does and does not do on a job
- Locating the leakADI
- Cutting in and repairingADI, if asked
Priced together, as one job.
- Drying and putting backAnother firm
ADI locates the leak. It cuts in only as part of a repair, and it does not carry out drying or putting back.
Read ADI's wording
On cutting in, ADI's terms say:
a quote for Leak Detection does not include making access to the leak, because we would not expose a leak without also having the intention of repairing it
Asked whether it repairs the damage a leak has caused, its FAQs answer:
No. Drying and reinstatement are separate work, and we can recommend a national company for it.
Reinstatement is the trade's word for putting things back as they were.

Where the insurance and housing points come from
From public bodies, quoted and linked beside each claim.
- Financial Ombudsman Service: its published decisions and its page on how to complain.
- Financial Conduct Authority Handbook: the rule on how insurers must handle claims, ICOBS 8.1.1.
- LEASE, the Leasehold Advisory Service: water leaks in leasehold flats.
- GOV.UK: repairs in a privately rented home.
- Citizens Advice: a leak from a neighbouring flat, for England.
- Shelter Scotland: leaks and flooding in a rented home, for Scotland.
Each of these was last read on 6 October 2026. A decision or a piece of guidance quoted on this site is an example. It is not a statement about your own policy, lease or tenancy.
